Mauritian born, Monique Labat has a passion for food and agro-processing. Growing up on a farm with access to vegetables and tropical fruit, defined the importance of knowing how to prepare food and how to use seasonal produce from an early age. Monique was fortunate to spend three months at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland in 2011. This created numerous opportunities in the food sector. Monique has had many food-related articles published in Taste magazine, the Saturday Independent and writes restaurant reviews on a regular basis.
Monique is currently compiling her first cookbook called, Facebook Foodie: Recipes of the Liked and Shared. The idea for the cookbook came about as a result of the comments and requests for recipes on Monique’s Facebook profile.
The criteria to choose the recipes to be included in the cookbook, was based on the most number of ‘Likes’ or ‘Shares’ from the last 3 years. The recipes are a combination of family favourites and several Low Carb High Fat recipes, a regimen which Monique has been following for the last 3 years.
The process of self-publishing is cost effective and speedy. All necessary tips and advice are available in the public domain on the Internet.
Monique was fortunate to have a Durban based business, Cosmic Creations with over 1,000 eBooks experience to typeset her cookbook. Self-publishing is to be recommended. Write your thoughts, ideas or stories electronically and check out www.createspace.com for ease of self-publishing.
Widely travelled, Monique makes a study of food styles and regional specialities at the many locations she visits. Her food blog was started in 2011 whilst at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. When not entertaining friends and family, Monique’s business consultancy serves clients in various industry sectors, with a special focus on agro-processing and market readiness value-add.
